Sick and Science

It's been a while since we've posted, but our family has been passing the flu bug around and we haven't been up to much lately except lots of snuggling and staying in.  First Mommy was sick, then me, then Max and now Daddy.  Daddy and I got sickest.  Mommy says she just doesn't like it one bit when we are sick.  The only part she likes is getting to cuddle and snuggle with us lots!
Daddy read us some stories.
We've been doing lots of science experiments.  We did these grow balls and tiger eye balls from my science kit I got for Christmas.  Mommy has also been finding other cool experiments for us to do.
This one was pretty awesome - the "naked egg"... you put a raw egg in vinegar and cover it with plastic wrap.  After 24 hours, change out the vinegar.  Within about 48 hours, the egg shell dissolves and you are left with a squishy naked egg!

Then we decided to see what happens when you take a knife and cut the egg... it was still juicy inside like a normal egg.
Peek a boo from the pantry!
Graham cracker snack
This one we probably had the most fun with because I told Mommy I wanted to make up my own experiment... we got to mix whatever item in a cup that we wanted from our kitchen.  We put in mustard, ketchup, food coloring, carrots, blueberries, strawberry syrup, salt, pepper, milk, etc.  The only bummer was when Max accidentally spilled his all over, oops!
In front our our interesting concoctions and in back is another experiment where you start with blue and yellow water and put a paper towel in each cup meeting in the middle to make green water!
This one was Mommy's favorite because it was the easiest!  Microwave a bar of Ivory soap for 2 minutes and you get an enormous "soap cloud"!  Soo cool (and your kitchen smells good)!
The soap cloud
We also experimented with making rock candy.  We didn't think it was turning out, but we let it sit for about a week and it finally starting making crystals.  We haven't tried eating it yet, but hope it is good!
Maxy got his first candy necklace.  We have a "warm fuzzy" bucket that we get to fill with fuzzy pom poms when we do something nice and make someone feel warm and fuzzy.  We filled the bucket last week so we each got to pick out a prize.  Max got a candy necklace and I picked a yard stick of gum.  It sure looks cool, but I didn't care for the gum itself.  Oh, well.  Here's to a healthy househould, we hope!!!

New Year's Day Snow Time!

New Year's Day brought more play in the snow and sledding at the hill near our house AND we even got to go to the BIG hill for the first time!  It was awesome!  Mommy and Daddy took turns taking me down, Max isn't quite old enough to go on the big hill yet.

Sledding New Year's Day!

New Year's Eve

We had an awesome New Year's Eve, we went ice skating at Park Place.  It was my first time ever ice skating.  I've been talking about wanting to do it for a while.  I did really well, Mommy and I didn't even fall!  I learned that it's a lot harder than it looks, though, and takes lots of practice!

All that watching Mommy and me ice skating really wore Max out that night!  :)

Sledding with the Beyers!

On New Year's Eve Day, we got lots of snow and we were so lucky to get to go play with the Beyers and go sledding with them!

Wanted to get this one on the blog since I took it off the title page at the top!

A New Year, A New Trick!

The other night, Maxy had a really hard time going to bed.  He started crying and crying and saying "I want out!  I want out!" when we put him to bed.  He had never done anything like this before.  We shut his door and Daddy was putting me to bed.  Mommy was in her room and heard Max's door open and a little voice say "I got out all by self!"  Littly Maxy was so proud of himself.  We tried to put him back in his crib but he refused and kept crawling right out.  Mommy and Daddy didn't know what to do, so they let him lay in their bed and of course, I wanted to join him.  So we were lucky boys because we got to fall asleep in Mommy and Daddy's bed the other night!

The next day, Mommy and Daddy decided something must be done if they wanted their bed back!  After the little guy showed us how he climbed out of his crib, we put up his new "big boy bed"!  Now he's really a big boy just like me!

Now Maxy is safe and won't get hurt trying to crawl out of the crib.  We had fun putting all our animals in the new bed.  Max loves it so far and the transition has gone great!  (Whew!)
