Mommy & Daddy's St. Louis Trip

Last weekend, Mommy and Daddy had a getaway to St. Louis!  It was their first time to be gone together more than 1 night since before I was born.  Max and I got to stay with the G and the Pop, which was the best!  But I'll let Mommy tell about their trip.

Craig and I took the train, which was such a fun way to travel... 5 uninterrupted hours of sitting, reading and talking... I had forgotten that kind of time could exist!  It was amazing!  These first two pictures are of Union Station in Kansas City, where the train departs from.  It is a beautiful place, especially this time of year decorated for Christmas.

We pretty much ate the entire weekend (and got a lot of much needed sleep.  After having a colicy baby for 4 months along with a toddler and starting a business, we were ready for a little time to ourselves to relax. )  We started things out with a yummy Snickers caramel apple in Union Station.
This was the least delicious meal - on the train.  We more than made up for it once we got to St. Louis, though.
 Craig hanging on the Arch.
A cute coffee shop we found near our hotel downtown.
See how little Craig is compared to the arch?  We rode to the top, and Craig is afraid of heights, so he was pretty scared... more scared looking up but was ok once we got to the top.
At the top of the arch
A nice man offered to take our picture.  It was so, so cold the entire weekend, so we had to bundle up!
This is the most amazing pizza we had at Pi Pizza in a cute area called Central West End.  I'm still thinking about that pizza!
But the best meal was at this French restaurant - Brasserie.  Craig heard about it from a patient who is a restaurant consultant and he definitely led us to the right place.  I really can't think of a better meal I've ever had in my life!
And the last night we went to Charlie Gitto's on the Hill for Italian - again, unreal.  I still can't figure out if the food was so amazing the whole weekend because we actually had a chance to sit and enjoy it and drink a glass of wine or if it's because it wasn't a quick crockpot or other family friendly easy dinner that we are usually scrambling to make.
Here's the cute neighborhood of Central West End.

  1. Looks like such a great trip! Sounds like just what you needed...a relaxing getaway to reconnect. All that talk of the yummy food makes me want to go now! That is my favorite part of vacations! I love that you got lots of pictures of just the 2 of you to commemorate the trip.
